Une petite révision ? Mais oui !!!!!!
CORRECTION : MARDI 1er AVRIL 2008
Dans cet exercice, il va donc s’agir de remplir chacun des blancs avec une des particules ou prépositions à choisir dans la liste suivante, mais attention, certaines ne sont pas utisées et.. d’autres peuvent l’être plus d’une fois : across – along – aside – away – by – down – for – into – on – off – out – up
1 – He was turned ...... from the restaurant because he wasn’t wearing a tie.
2 – I have to go to Liverpool on business next week. Could you please find ...... the train times for me ?
3 – I’ll put ...... my visit to Scotland until the weather is warmer.
4 – Mrs Hackett is so quarrelsome and disagreeable that nobody gets ...... with her.
5 – He puts some money ...... each month to pay for the summer holiday.
6 – In the end she made ...... her mind to go by plane.
7 – Lots of factories are closing ...... owing to the economic crisis.
8 – I don’t think I’ve come ...... this word before.
9 – It’s difficult to account ...... such behaviour.
10 – The house was broken ...... while the owner was away.

Let's go for my favourite exercise
1 – He was turned out from the restaurant because he wasn’t wearing a tie.
2 – I have to go to Liverpool on business next week. Could you please find out the train times for me ?
3 – I’ll put back / off my visit to Scotland until the weather is warmer.
4 – Mrs Hackett is so quarrelsome and disagreeable that nobody gets on with her.
5 – He puts some money aside each month to pay for the summer holiday.
6 – In the end she made up her mind to go by plane.
7 – Lots of factories are closing owing to the economic crisis.
8 – I don’t think I’ve come up with this word before.
9 – It’s difficult to account for such behaviour.
10 – The house was broken down while the owner was away.

Many thanks to Fame and our new friend Marius for taking part !
Here is the correction :
1 – He was turned OUT from the restaurant because he wasn’t wearing a tie.
2 – I have to go to Liverpool on business next week. Could you please find OUT the train times for me ?
3 – I’ll put OFF my visit to Scotland until the weather is warmer.
4 – Mrs Hackett is so quarrelsome and disagreeable that nobody gets ON with her.
5 – He puts some money ASIDE each month to pay for the summer holiday.
6 – In the end she made UP her mind to go by plane.
7 – Lots of factories are closing DOWN owing to the economic crisis.
8 – I don’t think I’ve come ACROSS this word before.
9 – It’s difficult to account FOR such behaviour.
10 – The house was broken INTO while the owner was away.
