Hello Mysto
Is your notice special for me ?
All right, I'll look up it in my dictionary
1 – I was at a zoo once when an elephant went berserk and attacked its keeper. To go berserl : être pris de folie furieuse
2 – A few seconds later, the line went dead and Glenn replaced the receiver. to go dead : je ne sais pas le traduire, mais est utilisé aussi pour dire que la ligne téléphonique est coupée
3 – After the spider bit Ron, his ankle got red and started to swell up. to get red / to turn red : devenir rouge
4 – He’s actually quite friendly when you get to know him. to get to know : faire connaissance
5 – Cutting that wood looks like hard work. I’ll take over from you when you are getting tired . to get tired : se lasser
6 – We soon came to like each other and have been great friends ever since. to come to like : s'apprécier
7 – The doctor told me that without immediate treatment I might go bllind. to go blind : perdre la vue
8 – The engineering firm Rales went bust during the economic recession of the late 1990s. to go bust : faire faillite
Is it better like that dear Mysto ? _________________ Fame

Hi there !!!!!
Bravo, mes chères Fame et O'RientCat, excellent travail !
Je vois même que notre Fame se voit gratifier d'un petit bonus pour avoir apporté des traductions, aurait-elle peur de se faire souffler sa place par notre O'RientCat
Je vous propose donc aujourd'hui la correction, et pour lever les petites incertitudes que vous pourriez avoir, vous trouverez 'in English of course', une petite leçon que je vous ai résumée !
1 – I was at a zoo once when an elephant went beserk and attacked its keeper.
2 – A few seconds later, the line went dead and Glenn replaced the receiver.
3 – After the spider bit Ron, his ankle went red and started to swell up.
4 – He’s actually quite friendly when you get to know him.
5 – Cutting that wood looks like hard work. I’ll take over from you when you get tired.
6 – We soon came to like each other and have been great friends ever since.
7 – The doctor told me that without immediate treatment I might go blind.
8 – The engineering firm Rales went bust during the economic recession of the late 1990s.
A short lesson :
We use the linking verb “become” to describe a process of change.
A number of other linking verbs can be used instead of “become”, including “come”, “get”, “go”, “grow”, “turn” (into).
We use “get” rather than become :
- in informal speech and writing before difficult, ill, interested, pregnant, suspicious, unhappy, worried
- in imperatives
- in phrases such as “get changed” (clothes), “get dressed”, “get married/divorced”.
We prefer “become” to talk about a more abstract or technical process of change with words as adapted, apparent, aware, convinced, infected, irrelevant, obvious, recognized.
We use “become”, not “get”, if there is a noun phrase after the linking verb.
We use “go” or “turn”, not usually “get” or “become”, when we talk about colours changing.
We often use “go” to talk about changes, particularly to unwanted situations.
We use “go”, not “turn” or “get”, with deaf, blind, bald, or to say that someone behaves in a mad or excited way ; and also with “go bad/off/mouldy/rotten” (about old food), “go bust” ( = a company closes because it has run out of money), go dead (= when a telephone stops working), “go missing”, and “go wrong”.
Notice, however, some common exceptions : “get ill”, “get cold”, get (or grow) tired”.
See youuuuuu !
