Hello everybody,

The Aral Sea was located in south-western Kazakhstan. In the past, it was full of fish. During the Soviet era 45 years ago, the diversion of the rivers flowing for irrigation of cotton caused the retreat of the Aral Sea. In the past, the small city of Aralsk was a fish port. Now, this city is completely surrounded by land. The rest of Aral Sea couldn't be seen from the town because it is about 100 km from the town since more than 25 years. The local population is affected by serious health problems caused by toxic chemicals. There are lots of fishing boats resting on the side tens km from the Sea.
